Capt. of State Legion Horsemen at 75p species –
Rob’t White and Jn’o Fonviielle – sworn before Ch’s Markland JP
1789 – County Court of Pleas and Quarters sessions held for the
County of Dobbs allowed the different collectors for insolvents
exemptions etc. on 2428 acres of land, 58 polls and 2 black polls,
5 1\2 town lots valued by the assesors to 230 pounds,
also the sum of 15s out of the taxes on studd horses –
the collectors of 3 districts have made no returns of insolvents for said
year

of the tax on a Negro man of his property by the name of Jacob
during his infirmities and that the sheriff is not to account for
the same for the present year – I hereby _____ that the within named
Negro Jacob is between the years of 10 and 49 ___ was given in my inventory
according Sign Benj’a Fort – the tax on the Negro of that age for the year
1779 is 10p 10s and public tax 15s

liable to pay by the clerk list returned to the sheriff given under our

collector of the public tax the money and moneys and interest not being
distinquished on the list deleivered by the clerk to the sheriff do certify
that after examining the accounts of Mr. William Hooker – we find that a
deduction of 6p 19s be allowed the William Hooker out of the whole amount of
what he stands liable for on the clerks list (to Wit) 30p 10s being sconners
tax he being enlisted on Capt. Davis’s list & 376p 9s being the tax by said
Hooker recieved in the money & moneys at interest over and above what he
should have received and that the said William Hooker be accountable to each
and every individual & refunded to them and each of them their
proportionable parts of the said 376p 9s given under our hands this
