This Indenture made the first of the Month Called ffeby. in the year of our Lord one Thousand Six Hundred Ninety and three by & between Edwd Hatcher Senr. on the one party & John Dawson on the other party Witnesseth that the sd Edward Hatcher for several Causes & considerations him thereunto moving but more especially for the Valuable consideration of seven thousand & five hundred pounds of Good tobacco In casq in hand already received the Receipt whereof the sd Edwd Hatcher doth acknowledge & himself therewith fully satisfied contented & paid and of the sd Seven thousand & five Hundred pounds of Tobacco & every part & parcell thereof doth frely acquit Exonerate & discharge the sd John Dawson his heirs Execrs. & Admrs. doth by these presents bargain sell Alienate Enfeoffe & make over and hath by these presents bargained sold Alienated & made over unto the sd John Dawson his Heirs Execrs. Admrs. & assigns one divident Containing Two Hundred Acres of Land or near thereabouts situate Lying & being on the South side of James River in the County of Heno. & Between the Land of Henry Lound & the Land of Gilbert Elan & formerly granted by Pattent unto William Hatcher dec’d

To have and to hold the above sd divident of Land & every part & parcell thereof (that is) beginning at the Lower line of the Land of Henry Lound & Lineth out upon his Line westerly three Hundred & twenty Poles of Sixteen foot & half pole then South & by East half east until at Buts on the Line of the Land of Gilbert Elam then down the sd Elams line to the River then up the River to the place first began Including the sd two Hundred Acres be the same more or less will all & singular its rights Members Jurisdictions and appurtenances whatsoever & in as full & ample manner to all intents Constructions & purposes as granted by Pattent together with all Houses Edifices buildings Gardens Orchards Hedges ffences Ditches & Inclosures Lands Tenemts. Hereditamts. Meadows ffeedings Pastures Woods underwoods Waters Water Courses ways Easemts. profits & comodities thereupon & thereunto belonging & to the only proper use & behoof of him the sd John Dawson his Heirs Execrs. Admrs. & Assigns from the day of the date hereof forever without any Lawfull Lett Suits Trouble denial Interruption Eviction or Disturbances of him the sd Edward Hatcher his Heirs Execrs. &c or of any other Person or soul by his or their means Act title priority Covenants premises grants and agress for & ___(?) behalf of himself his heirs ______(?) to and with the sd John Dawson his Heirs Execrs. Admrs. and Assigns

that he the sd Edwd Hatcher at & before the ensealing & Delivery of these presents is & standeth Lawfully seized of & in the above described premises & every part & parcell thereof & hath full power good Right and Lawfull Authority to bargain sell & convey the same & doth hereby & shall & will from time to time & at all times forever Warrant & defend the above granted premises & every part & parcell thereof to be free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted Exonerated & discharged off & from all & all former and other gifts grants Bargaines sales seales Indentures Leases Entales Wills ffeoffmts. Joynters ____(?) Dowries Titles of Dowers arr____(?) of Quit Rents or Debts & Duties to the King & Queen & from all other Titles Charges & Incumberances whatsoever the Rents & Services which form time to time & at all times forever hereafter shall grow due & payable to the King & Queen for or in Respect of the premises only Excepted & foreprized & the sd Edwd Hatcher doth hereby bind & oblige himself his Heirs Execrs. Admrs. In the penal sum of twenty thousand pounds of good Tobo In Casq to keep & observe all the Articles Clauses on his or their part herein mentioned to be kept & performed & also to make do perform & accomplish or cause to be made done performed or accomplished all & every further & other Deed or Deeds Conveyance or Conveyances whatsoever for the further or better Surety or suremaking of the premises & every part & parcell thereof be in by Deeds or otherwise enrolled or not enrolled the Enrollment of these presents or by and other ways or Means whatsoever as shall by the sd John Dawson his Heirs Execrs. Admrs. or Assigns or by his or that Counsell Learned in the Law be advised devised or Required & to acknowledge these presents in Henrico Court & make Livery(?) & Seizien of the premises when thereunto required.

In Wittness whereof the sd Edwd Hatcher hath hereunto sett to his Hand & seal ye day & year above Written.

Mary the wife of ye within named Edwd Hatcher did this day in open Court after due examination according to Law freely clearly and voluntarily Relinquish & surrender her Right of Dower to ye within mentioned Land and premises unto ye therein named John Dawson.
