Virginia Quakers  929.273  St25b

The English Ancestry of the Quaker branch of the Stanleys in Virginia is not historically verified.  The commonly accepted tradition is that they came from Lancastershire, England.

The first account of the family is found in the records of St. Peter’s Parish, New Kent Co., and is as follows —

James Stanley, son of Thomas Stanley 1688
Thomas Stanley, son of Thomas Stanley 1689
John Stanley, son of Thomas Stanley 1691
