Three individuals mentioned who are not descended from the Hartford Stanleys. One of them is George Stanley:
page vi George Stanley was of Essex, Mass., in the latter part of the seventeenth century. He was a shipmaster, but resided in Essex, where he left an estate. His descendants spread through Northern New England, and are now found most abundantly in the western part of Maine. Prof. Richard C. Stanley, of Bates College, is of this family.
