Text:
He was 17 living with his Mother Elizabeth Carter (second marriage) She would have been the primary source for the place he was born. The 1860 said he was born in Georgia. 1870 Census said North Carolina, 1880 Trent, Lenoir Co. North Carolina, 1900 said he was born in Georgia. I feel he was born in North Carolina not Georgia. He was born a few months after his father died. His mother did not have family in Georgia nor any relatives that I could find. His mother remarried in 1816 to Benjamin Carter from Wayne County.
