Morgan County Militia: Morgan County was established from Baldwin County in 1807. A part of Jasper County was added to Morgan County in 1815. In 1823 a part of Morgan County was set off to Newton County.
Following is a return of the First Class of Morgan County Militia taken from Georgia Military Affairs for the years 1801-1813. While the roster does not show all male inhabitants of the county, it does reveal a number of them.

in my Company District commencing on the Oconee one mile above Fort Clark, then East to it strikes the old Scull Shole path thence along the Ridge between Falling Creek and Sandy Creek to the Wilkes County line then along said line to the Cherokee Corner then along the Franklin County line to the Oconee River, then down said river to the beginning.
