We the undersigned citizens of Green, Lenoir and Wayne beg leave to represent unto your Excellency that we do not believe under all circumstances of the case that Arthur Sasser ought to be hanged for the homicide of Charles Jarroll. He is an old man infirm man with a large family entirely dependant upon him and we verily believe that he is far less guilty than Bryant Johnson who was entirely acquitted by the Jury, and we therefore humbly pray your Excellently to pardon him the offense.
