The ninth day of the 11th month November one thousand seven hundred
and ninety three, I Thomas Edgerton of the County of Wayne and State of
North Carolina being very sick and weak in boddy but perfect mind and
memory but calling to mind the mortality of my boddy do make and ordain
this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following imprimis:
I lend to my beloved wife Sarah the plantation whereon she now lives and
also the Willibe Plantation during her widowhood also I lend to my said wife
all my personal estate during her widowhood and no longer also I give and
bequeath to my said wife her choice of my horses and bridle and saddle one
bed and furnature two dishes two basons and half dozen plates.
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son Joseph his heirs and assigns forever a
certain tract or parcel of land whereon he now lives bounded by the Poley
Bridg Branch all my land on the East side of said branch except the Watkins
survey of which I give him fifty acres to be taken of joining Peter Powells
lines.
ITEM: I give to my son James one shilling Sterling.
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son John his heirs and assigns forever all
my land lying on both sides of the Woolf Branch where Joshua Hastings
formerly lived also the remaining part of the Watkins survey.
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son Thomas his heirs and assigns forever
all my land lying between the Poley Bridg branch and Isaac field branch of
Waters and Bullend surveys.
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son William his heirs and assigns forever
all my land lying on the West side of the Tom field branch also one other
tract purchased of James Boyt joyning John Wiggs land in the fork of Buck
Swamp.
I give and bequeath to my son Richard his heirs and assigns forever all my
land lying between Isaac field branch and Tom field branch also one other
tract granted to myself by patent joining Colyer and Bagets lines.
ITEM: I give and bequeath my personal estat to be eaqually divided

amongst my daughters having already given to the value of tenn pounds in
gold or silver to Rebecca and as much to Sarah for which they are to acct.
for in the dividen. My will further is that in case any of my sons disceas in
nonage that their portion of land be sold and the money arising therefrom
to be equally divided between the surviving brothers and sisters, also if any
of my daughters diseas in nonage that their portion be sold in like manner
and divided amongst the girls. Also a certain tract of land lying on the
Dreans of the Great Swamp which I purchased of William Smith to be sold
and the money arising therefrom to the eaqualy divided amongst my four
daughters Rebeca Sarah Phebe and Ann.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my wife executrix and my son
James executor to this my will in witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal the day and date within written.

The sixth day of the 4th month April 1794, I Thomas Edgerton testator of
the above testament having lost my son Richard by death which
necessitates me to make some alterations in my above said will.
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son Thomas his heirs and assigns forever
a certain tract of land lying in the fork of Buck Swamp which I gave to my
son William in my above will.
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son William his heirs and assigns forever
all my son Richards portion of land bequeathed to him in the above will also
a certain tract of land lying on the dreans of the Great Swamp which I
purchased of William Smith to be sold and the money their from arising to
be for the maintenance of my children and their necessary charges which in
my above will was to be divided amongst my daughters in witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and afixt my seal the day and date within
written.
