Oatmeal Fudge Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fat - softened
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Other ingredients

  • 4 cups oatmeal
  • 1 cup walnuts

Fudge Layer

  • 1 12 oz pkg chocolate chips
  • 2 TB butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 can condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Cream fat and sugar.

  2. Add eggs and vanilla.

  3. Add dry ingredients.

  4. Stir in nuts and oats.

  5. Remove 2 cups for topping.

  6. Press remaining into bottom of greased cookie sheet.

Fudge Layer

  1. In top of double boiler combine chips, butter, salt and milk.

  2. Heat until chips and butter have melted.

  3. Remove from heat.

  4. Stir in nuts and vanilla.

  5. Spread over oatmeal layer.

  6. Sprinkle top with reserved oatmeal mixture.

  7. Bake 15 to 20 minutes in 350 degree oven.

  8. Cool completely in pan.

  9. Cut into squares.
