Whereas Mark Pike son of Nathan and Rachel Pike of the Wayne County, North Carolina, and Christian Peele daughter of Willis and Betsey Peele of the same place having laid their intentions of marriage with each other before several Monthly Meetings held at Contentney in said county and state. And after due inquiry nothing appearing to hinder were allowed by said meeting to proceed.
Now thee are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishment of their intentions this 12th day of 4th mo. 1812. They said Mark Pike and Christian Peele did in a public manner appear in a Friends meeting held at Contentney Meeting House, Wayne County, North Carolina, and the said Mark Pike and Christian Peele did in a public manner openly declare that they took each other to be husband and wife.
And as a further confirmation hereof the said Mark Pike and Christian Peele did to these presents set their hands (she according to custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband).

Whereas Nathan Pike son of Samuel Pike and Rachel Maudlen, daughter of Edmund Maudlen both of the County of Dobbs in North Carolina having laid their intentions of marriage with each other before several Monthly Meetings of the people called Quakers in the county aforesaid whose proceedings therein after a deliberate consideration with regard to the Righteous Law of God and example of his people recorded in the Scriptures of Truth were approved by said meeting and being found clear of other marriage engagements and having consent of parents.
Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishment of said marriage the said Nathan Pike and Rachel Maudlen appeared in a public meeting of the aforesaid people met together at Contentny in the count aforesaid and then and there the said Nathan Pike taking the said Rachel Maudlen by the hand declared as follows: “Friends you are my witnesses that I take Rachel Maudlen to be my wife promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a true and loving wife until death separate us” (or words that effect).
And for a further confirmation hereof the said Nathan Pike and Rachel Pike his (now) wife she according to custom assuming the name of her husband have to them presents set their hands. And we whose name are under written being present at the solemnization os aid marriage and subscription have as witnesses there into subscribed our names this 15th day of 8th mo. 1781.
