p. 29-30 In 1768, Willis and Grace ETHERIDGE sold to Matthias ETHERIDGE, for £188, 112 acres of  land was bounded by Gum Swamp; Frances CREDLE‘s (?) line, Samuel ETHERIDGE line, Solomon ETHERIDGE line, the land formerly belonging to Willis ETHERIDGE, and to the beach joining Samuel HAPPERs line and then to the first station.. ETHERIDGE of the above said province him his heirs execr. adms. or assigns for paying me my heirs exers. adms. or assigns for paying any quite rents by virtue of a bill of sale bearing date 23 of Aug. 1701 now if the said Andw. ETHERIDGE pay or causes to be paid unto the Lords proprietors there quiete rent duly yearly and every year to the extent of the Lords proprietors and then the said BENNET nor his heirs will make any further for ashure testimony here of the persons above mentioned have here unto sett our hands and seals:  /s/ John BENNET, Andw. NASH of the afsd place and county cooper, Land being in the woods in the prect. of Currituck in the County of Albemarle in the province of North Carolina. Said land being a part of a greater quantity given to me by my father Wm. JONES of the same county and province afsd. of the other part.   For the sum of £20 sterling paid by Edward JONES, land containing 240 acres lying and being up the northwest river in the prect of Currituck and in the provinse of No. Carolina, begining at two presimon trees standing  near the norwest river percorson then runing westerly to the west line of the said land then runing down along Saml. BALLANCEs to the norwest river then down the said river by various courses to the first station, the said plantation and tract of land being part of a tract of land patented by Edwd. pg. 194  Barbra BALLANCE to Cortney BALLANCE, both of Currituck County.  Sept. 19, 1801.  Barbra BALLANCE of the state and county afsd. widow, for divers good causes me hereunto moving but more especially for the love and effectin which I have unto my daughter Cortney BALLANCE hath given, One roan mare Bonney and her colt and their encrease only excepting the first colt said mare Bonney shall have hereafter for my son Labin BALLANCE and the second colt said mare shall have for my daughter Barbra BALLANCE, only excepting my natural life in said mare and her encrease.   Also I give unto my daughter Cortney BALLANCE two hiffers calves and their encreas that is my daughter Cortneys own mark, excepting my natural life and for my daughter Cortney BALLANCE. pg. 40 January 17, 1780 – Know all men by these presents that I Daniel McPHERSON SEN. of the County of Norfolk and State of Virginia do acknowledge my right and title unto Moses McPHERSON of a certain peace of land containing 75 acres  lying in Currituck County near the line of Virginia it being the land that I formerly made a right to the said Moses McPHERSON Father by a Deed which Deed was lost in the office of Currituck County, I therefore renew my right and title unto sd. pg. 109-110 June 10, 1785 – I Thomas JARVES Sheriff having been directed by the County Court of Pleas and Quarter Session to cause the sum of £9, 16 Shillings and 4 Pence and damages in the amount of £3, 7 Shillings and 7 Pence out of the goods, chattels, land or tenements of Abner BALLANCE Deceased. The amount to be rendered to Easther MAY in a suit she lately recovered from said Abner BALLANCE. I Thomas JARVES Sheriff did enter and take possession of a certain parcel of land by estimation 50 acres  being part of a tract patened by Samuel BALLANCE deceased in the year 1713 various courses to the first station. On May 18, 1785 at Public Vendue when and here the sd. pg. 205-206  Nov. 1786 – I, James PHILLIPS Sheriff in obedience of a Writ issued out of the Superior Court of Law & Equity commanding me to cause the sum of £25, 4 Shillings & one Penny which granted to James HURST recovered against Thomas OLIVER & Josiah NICHOLSON Bale of James JENNETT. By Command of Writ you did take into possession out of the goods, chattels and lands of Thomas OLIVER & Josiah NICHOLSON a parcel of land containing 125 acres of land of said Thomas OLIVER & some of Josiah NICHOLSONs horses remainder in your custody unsold for want of bidders, and you could not have the money before us as Josiah NICHOLSON & Thomas OLIVER had not any more goods, & chattels, land. I James PHILLIPS Sheriff did take possession of mention 120 acres of land lying on Haterass Banks beginning at West side of Creek at DURANTs various courses to William QUIDLEYs line along his line to Thomas DINKINs line along DUNKINs line to the Sound then to first station containing 100 acres, being part of a patent taken up by Honorable Capt. William REED bearing date January 18, 1711/12. On October 4, 1786 at Public Vendue William BALLANCE did appear and bid the sum of £25 and was highest bidder and by virtue of Writ said land was granted unto William BALLANCE. pg. 101-102  June 8, 1789 – I James ANSELL Son and heir of Nathan ANSELL one of Sons and heirs of John ANSELL from whom the conveyed premises wore left to Caleb ANSELL as Tenant after the Death of Caleb decended to the Brothers, the Sons of said John equally.  I James ANSELL for the sum of £100 paid to me by Caleb ANSELL for a tract of land that come to me by decent from the death of my deceased Father Nathan ANSELL one of the Sons and heirs of John ANSELL. Beginning on the swamp side in John BALLANCE’S patent line various courses to BURTON’S line then Southeast at BRABBLE’S line various courses to Armstead SOLES line & John BRABBLE’S corner then Southwest to Thos. PARKER’S corner then Southwest to the swamp along the swamp to the first station.  Yielding and paying such sums yearly as our General Assembly may direct, provided that Caleb & William BALLANCE  shall cause this Grant to be Registered in the Registers Office within 12 months from the date hereof.  /s/ Alex. pg. 234 Oct. 27, 1784 – No. 77 – Know ye that for the sum of 50 Shillings fore every 100 acres hereby granted paid into our Treasury by Richard ETHERIDGE have given & granted a tract of land containing 80 acres. Beginning on the edge of the Virginia line and Moses BALLANCE, Sexton POWERS on the edge of the road binding on Sexton POWERS to Luke CHERRIES along his line to the Virginia line then to the first station.
