page 122 Agreement between Benjamin Hatcher and Robert Sharpe, both inhabitants of Henrico Co.,: There is now a tract in the county called Varina, lately in possession of William Hatcher, dec’d, and claimed at law by said Robert Sharpe, and the right of said William since his death being derived to said Benjamin Hatcher, and also claimed by said Sharpe. Now for valuable consideration to both parties and to avoid future suits about the tract, 200 acres, they agree the land should be divided equally; and Robert shall have first choice. 31 March 1680.

p127 -1 April 1680 Edward Hatcher, son of William Hatcher, of Varina Parish, Henrico Co., dec’d, to Benjamin Hatcher, son of said William Hatcher, for sake of quiet and peaceable settlement of estate left by their father and to avoid future suits and quarrels, confer each to the other 1/2 of personal estate left by their father. Edward grants to Benjamin 200 acres of land at Varina, lately in occupation of said William, and one tract called “Pigg in the Bole” in same county, near land of Thomas Holmes, 100 acres; also one tract called “Turkey Island”, 150 acres. Benjamin confirms to Edward a tract known as “Necke of Land”, 400 acres; also one plantation between Gilbert Elam and Henry Lound, 250 acres, lately in occupation of Thomas Wood.

1 April 1684 Edward Hatcher of County & Parish of Henrico, planter, for 11,000 lbs tobacco received of Nathaniel Bacon, late of Curles, dec’d, deeds to Thomas Jarvis of Kiquotan in Elizabeth City Co., Gent., who married the relict and trustee of estate of Nathaniel Bacon, dec’d, 50 acres in Varina Parish, next to land formerly belonging to widow Parker and now in occupation of Willl Byrd, Esq., part of 200 acres formerly belonging to Will Danks, purchased by Will Hatcher, Jr. and Hen. Hatcher of Robert Bullington and Hen. Rowing and Alee his wife in two deeds dated 1 Feb 1661, and by Hen. Hatcher, the survivor of the joint purchasers, sold to said Edward Hatcher 20 Aug. 1667.

William Hatcher, aged 63 years [b. 1613] or thereabouts deposeth, that Richard Martin came to the house of this dept within some small time after he came last unto the County to have some advise conserning his goods wch was seized for the passage of the sd Martin and his sevts of wch goods seized as aforesd the sd Martin told this dept that there was about five pounds worth of goods wch was sent in by one that was his servt and was to be disposed of and returne to be made to a kinsman of the sd son and further saith not. p. 370 Edward Hatcher for affection to Henry Turpin, son to his daughter Sarah and her husband Matthew Turpin, 1 brown cow calf, when he is 18. 1 June 1686.
Several years ago Edward Hatcher of Henrico Co., for love and affection gave to his grandchild Mary Gower, daughter of Richard and Martha Gower, 1 cow calf and 1 mare, which have since increased to 5 head cattle & 1 mare & filly. Gower has disposed of 2 of the cattle. Now for good will & affection Edward Hatcher and Richard Gower give to Mary Gower 2 red cows, 1 brown cow, 1 yearling mare filly and various household items in possession of Richard Gower, which said Richard will keep until Mary is 21 or married. 1 Jan. 1686.

Three years since my father Edward Hatcher gave to my daughter, Mary Hatcher 1 sow pig which has increased to 3 head of hogs, killed by me this year; therefore for love & affection to my said daughter, give her 1 black cow calf. This Indenture made the first day of April in the thirty Sixth Year of the Reign of our Governor Lord Charles the Second by the Grace of God of Great Brittain France & Ireland King & Defender of the Faith & in the Year of our Lord God 1684. Witnesseth that Edwd. Hatcher of the Parish & County of Henrico Planter for & in Consideration of Eleven thousand pds of tobco. Cash in hand recd. of Nathaniell Bacon late of Curles in the prsh & County aforesd ___(?) decd, the receipt whereof he the sd Edwd. Hatcher hereby Acknowledgeth & from every part & parcell thereof doth hereby Acquit, Ar___r(?) & discharge the heirs Exors. & Admrs. of the sd Bacon decd hath Aliened, Bargained, Sold, Enfeoffed, & confirmed, & by these presents doth freely, clearly & absolutely Alien, Bargain, Sell Enfeoff & Confirm unto Tho. Jarvis of Ki_________(?) County of Elizabeth City Gent. who marryed the Relict of & as heirs Transfer to(?) Heirs of the sd Bacon Decd. & to the heirs & assigns of the sd deceased(?) one State(?) Hatcher as by two Assignmts. endorsed on the back side ye sd two Conveyances bearing date the 21st of Octb. & a deed of Sale & bond (for performances of the Same) date the 20th of August 1667 may more at large appear. To have and to hold the sd Tract or Dividend of land unto the aforesd Tho. Jarvis as Trustee, & the heirs & assigns of the sd Nathaniell Bacon decd, & all Houses, Outhouses, Orchards, Gardens, Fonets(?), Pastures, Waters, Woods, underwoods, Priviledges, Immunitys, Emolumts. & Appurtenances wtsoever to the sd land belonging, or in any wise appertaining for ever.
And further the sd Edwd. Hatcher doth for himself his heirs Exrs. & Admrs. Covenant, promise & agree to & wth sd Tho. Jarvis as Trustee, & to, & wth sd heirs & assigns of the aforesd Nathan. Bacon decd that the aforesd land & the Appurtenances is clear & free & shall by him his heirs Execs. or admrs. forever be defended, maintained, & kept clear & free from all Bargains, Sales, Gifts, Grants, Mortgages or other incumbrances _______(?) by him at any time herebefore made &c quickly & peacefully possessed conveyed & enjoyed wthout any __(?) hinderances distrurbances molestacon, claim, or demand oh him the sd Edwd.
