(173) David Cobb & John Cobb
Petition (no date) for a dvision of land by James Cobb, a minor with Stephen Cobb his gdn. The said James is son and heir of James Cobb, dec’d., of Wayne Co., who died testate. The elder James Cobb had a right in a certain tract of land formerly owned by his brother John Cobb (uncle of the petitioner), which had reverted to his brother James and other brothers (unnamed). The petitioner was entitled to 4/5 of said land, and Mary Farmer (wife of Benjamin Farmer) was entitled to the other 1/5, being the daughter and heir of David Cobb, a dec’d. brother of John Cobb and James Cobb.

Cobb brought suit against Stephen Cobb for debts owed him by patience Cobb, mother of said Stephen, Mar. 5, 1813, Wayne Co. petition (Mar, 1816) by James Cobb of Edgecombe Co (son of the dec’d), stating Stephen Cobb had been apptd. his gdn. but had refused to pay him his share of the estate when he came of age.

Petition (Nov., 1807) for a division of land by Stephen Cobb, son of the dec’d stating the dec’d died intestate possessed of 500 acres on the west of the Contentney adj. Jeptha Barefoot and William White. The petitioner bought the shares of the estate belonging to representatives of Benjamin Cobb, James Cobb and Nathan Cobb and was entitled to a 4/5 share. Etheldred Deberry was entitled to the other 1/5 share.
