A Stephen Sasser was a private in Company K, 27th regiment  He enlisted 10 June 1861 in Wayne County, North Carolina. His residence at the time of enlistment was Wayne County, North Carolina.  He survived the war.  His age was unknown.

There is a record on familysearch.org for a Stephen Sasser b abt 1838 in North Carolina (MJLG-7Y3).  It shows a wife Sallie but I find no sources for this.

I found a Stephen in the 1850 census age 14 (born abt 1836) living in Neuse, Wayne, North Carolina living with William H. & Mary Gardner

I also found a Stephen in the 1860 census, 24 yrs old living with Henry and Mary Daniel.

There were no other Stephen Sassers in Wayne County at this time.

I did not find a Stephen in the 1870 nor did I find a Sallie Sasser (supposed wife)

The Family Group Record have two sons William and Henry, Johnston County.  I did not find these sons in the census records either.
