Same, p. 304 May 10, 1690 “Robt: Peele yonger” and Robert Peele “Elder” wit. marriage Robert Jordan and Mary Belson, Chuckatuck MM. Notes from D.P. Mohrmann: In the VA law of 1748 as well as 1702, 1705 that a ferry crossed Nansemond River “from Coffield Point to Robert Peelle’s near Sleepy Hole.” Both Robert Peele (1657) and his son Robert (1681) lived in Sleepy Hole during that time. Law books do not state who owned the ferry or operated the ferry. Words imply that it started from the west bank, “from Coffield Point to Robert Peelle.” Sleepy Hole is on the east side of the Nansemond River. Not proven but possible that Robert Peelle (1635) and his sons met Georg Fox when the Chuckatuck Meeting House was established. His family probably became Quakers at this time in 1673. Piney Wood (Perquimans) Monthly Meeting records date May 4, 1750 prove that Robert (1709) was a member of Nansemond County, VA Meeting Housebecause he request permission to marry. No documentation for Robert (1681) proves him a Quaker, his grandfather, his father and his children were Quakers. Can assume that he was a Quaker.
