I Henry Sasser of the county of Wayne and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but consoled to entering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is today.
First That my executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate
Items I give and devise to my son Eli Sasser all my lands and for him to raise my little daughter Louizer – and my two little sons James Edward Sasser and John Allin Sasser on the same and that he shall pay over to all the children except my son William Henry Sasser say to my daughter Louizer three hundred dollars and to my two sons James E Sasser and John H Sasser Five hundred dollars each as they come of age without interest and that he shall pay to my other four daughters Cuzzey, Eliza, Elizabeth and Beanner Fifty dollars each as he can with convenience, I further reserve my lifetime on said land.
Item I give and divise to my four daughters Cuzzy, Elizer, Elizabeth and Beanner each a Bed and furniture.
Item I give and devise to my son Eli Sasser all my stock of Horses Cattle and Hogs also all my household and kitchen furniture
Item I will and devise to my son William Henry Sasser one Bed and furniture which I loan him and he has in possession
Item I give and devise to my daughter Elizze one dollar and to my son Elisha one dollar and to my son Stephen one dollar and to my daughter Allin Ann one dollar or their lawful heirs
Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Hiraim Hams my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last Will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof hereby revoking and declairing utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I the said Henry Sasser do hereunto set my hand seal this thy 29th day of February A.D. 1812

Estate Sasser , John W. on the first day January 1863 we or either of us promise to pay John Everitt, Guardian of Philip H Sasser, Mildred Sasser and Ellen Sasser, the sum of two hundred and twenty dollars for the hire of Negro boys Willis & Henry from the first day of January 1863 to the first day of January 1864. We also convenant with the said John Everett, Guardian as aforesaid, to feed and clothe Negro well, viz. To furnish each with three substantial suits of clothes, one of them woolen, two pair of good shoes, one hat and one blanket. We also covenant with the said John Everitt not to carry the said negro, out of county of Wayne, also not to work with him, her or them, in Steam Mills or on Steam boats, Rafts, Boats or Railroads or allow them to ride horse races; and in case of a breach of this covenant, to pay the value of said negro or the damages that may have been sustained, and to return said negro, if living, on the first day of january 1864. Saper , the guardian of the fire plaintiff , was fully paid off and satisfied the amount due him as purchase money for the tract of land described in the Bill & that he ought to have conveyed his interest in the same by deed to the plaintiff , Georgianaand having died intestate without making said conveyance , leaving the defendants Philip H. Mildred Ellen & Sarah Saper his heirs at law , to whom the same descre did . it is therefore ordered , adjudged and decreed that the said Philip H. Taper , Ellen Saper , Mildred Soper , Ellen Paper and Sauch Sasser convey the legal title of the said tract of land , which is bounded as follows beginning at ( copy from Bill ) to the said Georgiana and her being the and it is declared by the Court that the effect of this decree shall be to transfer to the said Georgiana and hering the legal title to the said tract of land as though the conveyance above decreed was in fact executed . Know all men by these presents that I, Josiah Saser, planter of Wain County in the State of North Carolina, being of proper mind and memory make this my last will and testament as follows to wit I give and bequeath to my eldest son, John Saser, 411 acres of land in the north roundabout together with the plantation and all the provisions to the same belonging. Also my Negro fellow Sam and….one horse called Buck and also to my son Willam Saser one…. tract of land… in the name of John Saser with all the appurtenances to the same belonging and Negro Nancy and Manic and also to my eldest daughter Sasannah Saser I give and bequeath my Negro girl June and also to my second daughter Elizabeth Saser my Negro girl Chaney and also to my third daughter Mary Saser my Negro fellow Dick and a sorrel horse called Major and my mare called… and also I give and bequeath to my youngest son Josiah Saser my plantation I now live on containing 400 acres ofland together with all the appurtenances to the belonging only keeping to my beloved wife one third of the said lands and plantation lasting her lifetime and one Negro winch called Peggy and also I give and bequeath to my beloved wife one Negro fellow called Lacy and a winch called Mollie together with my stock of horses, cattle, hogs and sheep,and… and all my household furniture and tools of every kind to… I also… unto my beloved wife one-third of the plantation I now live on together with the house thereon during her life as above referred in the gift to my son Josiah and I also doth hereby acknowledge this to be my last will and testament and doth hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth Saser and William Fellows and Blake Bryant as my executors to this my last will and testament. This Indenture May this 26th day of July in the year of Our Lord One Thousand and State aforesaid of the Other part Witnesseth that whereas the Last Will and Testament of Josiah Sasser late of Wayne County decd the Testator did devise a Tract of Land with County of Wayne on Little River to the said William Sasser without Mentioning to him Intention of his Father Josiah Sasser decd to have given the land also to the sd William sasser in fee Simple Now this Indenture Further Witnesseth that the said John Salser for and in consideration of the Natural love & affection which he hath for his Brother William Sasser and for the further consideration of the sum of Five Shillings Current Money have yar and which was intended to have given by the said Josiah Sasser decd to the said William Sasser recourse being had to the said Will of the said Josiah Sasser decd will fully appear and the said John Sasser doth for himself and his heirs Covenant and agree to and with the said William Sasser his heirs and assigns to Warrant and forever defend the Land aforesaid unto the said William Sasser and his heirs form all persons claiming from Signed Sealed & Delivered ⎬ John Sasser Seal

We the under assignees conceiving and knowing that the Bridge built by Stephen Sasser Esqr across Little River in said County to be of Treat advantage & benefit to the inhabitants of said County in Crossing said River, and also will be of considerable advantage to the public, prays your honours to grant your petitioners Roads to and from said Bridge as will make it more advantageous to the public the inhabitants your Pretationers Humbley prays your honours to Grant them a Road. We also conceive that in High Water it Can be Crossed at any time, we pray your Honours to Grant us a road to leave the old Road that Crosses Raifords Bridge at or near the End of Richard Brunts Lane on Buck Swamp and to go the Nearest Course to the Bridge Clear of Cultivated lands and from thence into the Little river Road Colled near Robert

Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County in the sum of two thousand pounds current money to be paid to
the said Justices , or the survivors or survivor of them their executors or adminitrators , in true for the benefit of the
child hereafter named committed to the tuition of Josiah Wise
To which payment well and truly to be made , we bind our Selves , our heirs , executors and adminisrators , jointly and
severally, firmly by these presents Sealed with our seals and dated this 14th day of January A.D. 1790
THE Condition of the above obligation is such , that whereas the above bounden Josiah Wise is constituted and
appointed guardian to Nancy Sasser a Minor Orphan ; now if the said Josiah Wise shall faithfully execute said
guardianship by occuring and improving the estate of the said Nancy passes that shall come into possession,
for the benefit of the said Nancy as until she shall arrive at full age,
or be sooner thereto required , and then render a plain and true account of his said guardianship on oath before the
Justices of said County Court , and deliver up , pay to or possess said Nancy Sasser of all such estate

Sasser , William Court , her husband to make report to said In Obediance thereto do make the following Report , First from the records of said Court it appears that the said Josiah Wise was appointed Guardian to the said Anne than Orphan , At JanY Court 1790 that the said Josiah Wise took into his possession two Negroes ( to wit Sampson and Abram the property of the said Anne that he hired out the said Negroes but failed to keep and act of the amt of the hire during his Guardianship which from the best authority we have been able to obtain was about six years
— That from the neglect of said Guardian it has not been in our power to determine the real here But have proceeded to make an estimate from what is conceived to be the real value of said Negroes to wit That Sampson would of hired for five pounds yearly and that Abram would of hired for twenty two pounds ten shilling amounting for the aforesaid times to Two hundred and eighty five pounds 285,00 That the said Josiah wise did as Guardian advance for the purport of the the said Anne from the year 1790 to the year 1790 the sum of hundred and forty eight pounds

That the said Josiah Wise did receive from Richard Mekinne Senr the late Guardian to the said Anne on the 12th day of Apr 1790 the sum of Sixty five pounds 3/3 in cash the property of the said Anne agreeable to as receipt given the said Richard which with Int to the 15th day of Novr 1804 and to one hundred and twenty one pounds 19 /1
That the said Josiah Wise did pay to the said Anne on the 14th day of Feby 1799 the sum of one hundred and Ten pounds 3 /11 which sum with (?) up to the 15th day of Novr 1804 , day 5 years & 9 months as to one hundred and forty eight pounds 4/

that in making out the foregoing reports we have not charged Anne on the different years for the sums which the negroes hired for supposing the trouble of Guardianship and some board which perhaps never was charged , aught to balance against that acct up to the year of 1797 when the orphan became of age (?) which is submitted

Know all men by these presents, That we Stephen Sasser Richard Jernigan firmly bound unto J.C. Punder chairman, and other justices of the County Court of Wayne in the sum of 2000 pounds, current money, to be paid to the said Chairman or his successors, or other justices of the county of Wayne to the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and administrators, jointly and feverally, firmly by their presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 25th day of May 1811.

Administrator of all and singular the Goods and Chattels, rights and Credits of William Sasser deceased, do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods and chattels, right and credits of the deceased which have or shall come to the Hands, Knowledge or Possession of the said Stephen or into the Hands or possession of any person or persons for him and the same so made, do exhibit, or sauce to be exhibited to our said county court of wayne within ninety days after the date of these presents; and the same goods, chattels and credits, and all other goods, chattels and credits of the deceased, at the time of his death or which at any time hereafter shall come into the Hands or Possession of the said Stephen or into the Hands or possession of any other person or persons for him or do well and truly administer according to law: and further do make or cause to be made, a true and just account of his said administration, within the time required by act of assembly, after the date of these presents, and all the rest and residue of the said goods, chattels, and credits, which shall be found remaining in the hands of or due from the said administrator shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively, as the same shall become due, pursuant to the true intent and Meaning of the act in the case made and provided. Beginning for Polly Bryan wife of Benjamin Bryan at a station on the bank of Neuse River in the East of Granville line runs his line E 208 poles to the Smithfield River thence with the remainder of the road 81 poles to an stake thence and to the Neuse River thence up the (?) the River to the began (?) 40 (?) as represented by the above plat No 1

We the undersigned commissioners, appointed by the Court of Pleas and quarter sessions of said County, having been duly sworn proceeded an the 9th Day of November 1860 to divide and make an partition between and among Thomas Sasser, Delaney wife of Thomas Sasser, and John Sasser, tenants in common of the lands descended to them as children and heirs at law of Henry Sasser deceased. Whereupon we have made and do hereby make the following appropriatioins among the respective claimants in severalty, that is to say, the lot not lying on Buffalow Swamp is assigned and appropriated to Thomas Sasser in severalty, bounded as follows viz:
Beginning at a Black Gum on the run of Little Buffalo, runs West 78 poles to a stake John Cockrill’s corner, thence south 101 poles to an water oak, corner of Lot no 2 thence with the line of Lot No 2 East 149 Poles to a Small ash on the run of Little Buffalo, thence up the various courses of said swamp to the beginning containing (71 ½ acres) Seventy and a half acres valued at $107.25One hundred and Seven Dollars and twenty five cents. The share tract is entirely encumbered with the Dower
Also Lot No 1 in the lands lying on Little Creek, we assign to Thomas Sasser and is bounded as follows viz Beginning at a Black Gum on the run of Little Creek and runs East 30 poles to a stake in the line of Lot No 3. thence along said line and past the corner and with the line of Lot No 3 than along said line and past the corner with the line of Lot No 2 north 72 poles to an post oak thence East 44 poles to a stake, thence North 5 degrees west 54 poles to a stake W.F Wellons corner, thence as his line West 63 poles to as stake on the run of Strip Hill Branch thence down said branch to Little Creek, thence down the various corners of said Creek to the beginning containing 49 acres. Valued at $196
Lot No 2 and Lot No 3 in the lands lying on Little Buffalow swamp are assigned and appropriated to Delancy wife of Thomas Sasser – Lot No 2 begins as follows, at a Water Oak, Thomas Sassers corner runs on his line East 149 poles to a small ash his corner on the run of Little Buffalow, thence down said swamp to a sweet gum, corner of Lot No3. thence with said line West 212 Poles to a stake in John Cockrells line, thence on his line North 79 poles to the beginning, containing 89 acres valued at $133.50). Said lot is almost entirely ecumered with the Dower.
No 3. Begins at a sweet gum on the run of Little Buffalow swamp, corner of Lot No 2 and rising with the line of Lot No 2 West 212 poles to a stake, thence south 57 poles to a Stake Stephen Bagleys corner, Thence as his line East 219 poles to a stake his corner thence with his line and past his corner North 50 poles to a pine on the run of Little Buffao Swamp, thence up said swamp to the beginning containing 76t ½ acres Valued $191.25
Lot No2 and Lot No3 in the lands lying a Little Creek are assigned and appropriated to John Sasser. No 2 Begins at a pine in Thomas Sasser’s line, runs as his line north 64 poles to an post oak his corner, thence as his lion and past his corner East 134 poles to an stake Thomas Hoolwell’s corner, thus as his line south 64 poles to an stake corner of Lot No 3, thence with said line west 134 poles to the beginning, containing 53 ½ acres valued at $214. No 3 begins at pine corner of Lot No 2, and runs East 134 poles to an stake corner of Lot No 2 thence south 64 poles to an stake thence North 64 poles to the beginning containing 53 ½ valued at $107
We further charge the (?) valuader dividend or dividends with such sums of money respectively as will make an equitable division, that is to say: Delaney wife of Thoman Sasser pays to Thomas Sasser the sum of Eight Dollars and forty one and two third cents ($8.41 ⅔) – John Sasser pays to Thomas Sasser the sum of $4.66 2/3 .

Whereas the plaintiff in this action has made an affidavit that the defendant therein wrongly detain certain personal property, in the said affidavit mentioned of the value of One Hundred & Fifty dollars and the plaintiff claims the immediate delivery of such property, as provided for in the second chapter of the seventh title of the second part of the Code of Procedure: Now, therefore, and in Consideration of the taking of said property, or any part thereof, by the Sheriff of the County of Wayne by virtue of the said affidavit and the requisitions thereupon endorsed, we the undersigned Hiram J. Hearn and Robert Hern do hereby undertake and become bound to the defendant in the sum of three hundred dollars for the prosecution of the action of the plaintiff in the said action against the defendant for wrongfully detaining the said property, for the return to the defendant of the said property, or so much thereof as shall be taken by virtue of the said affidavit and requisition thereupon endorsed, it a return thereof shall be adjudged; and for the payment to the defendant of such sum as may, for any cause be recovered against the plaintiff in this action.

In the name of God Amen, I Daniel Sparrow of the county of Pulaski being in perfect health of body and of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in devout Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty former of God, and as touching such worldy estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life. I Dicey Sparrow of the county of Orange and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say:
First that any executor (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial and pay all just-debts is whomsoever owing out of the moneys that may first come into his hands as a part or parcel of my estate.
Items I give and devise (divide?) to my two daughters Nancy L Sparrow and Elizabeth Jane Sparrow all my household and kitchen furniture, my boy Mose and two choice cows and calves.
Items My will and desire is that all the residue of my estate after taking out the devises and legacies above mentioned shall be sold and the debts owing to my collected; and of these should be any surplus over and above the payment of debts expenses and legacies that sch surplus shall be equally divided and paid over to all my children and grandson Newtson? (or Wintson?) Sparrow in equal proportion share and share alike to them and each and every of them their executors administrators and apigns? absolutely forever.
And Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Geo. In the name of God Amen, I Henry Sparrow of Craven county State North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God) on this twenty second April one thousand and seven? hundred ninety five make and publish this last and will and testament in manner following that ? day I ????? my loving wife Elizabeth ???? my land? And plantation wheron I now live my negro and Pleasant and Davey and all my other ????? same manner as I lend my land ????? my son William Sparrow my land and ?????? I now live after my wifes death or marriage to him his heirs and ajsigns for ever likewise Negro woman pleasant and negro boy Davey and the one half of all my other property equally to be divided between him and my daughter Francis
Item, I give unto my daughter Francis Sparrow one Negro man called Sandy and my will and desine is that my said daughter shall have the first child that Negro Pleasant may have after it comes to the age of one year and the half of my other property to be equally divided between her and my son William the above gifts to my children to take place after my wifes death or marriage.
Item, my will and desire is that my Negro man Cole be sold to the last advantage by my executors and the money arising ??? his state be applied to the paying my ???? remainder applied to the ?? of ????? they may want the same???? And appoint my worthy friend ?????

In the name of God Amen. I Richard Sparrow of the county of Norfolk and State of Virginia being of sound memory do constitute this is be my last Will and Testament as followeth first I recommend my soal into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth, Item I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Sparrow my house and plantation being and lying in the county of Princess Anne being by estimation Fifty acres more or less to him and his Heirs forever I also give unto my son Henry Sparrow my still to him and his Heirs for ever. Item I leave all my slaves and all other property both with in and without doors to be eaqully divid between my four sons namely Henry, Richard, James and William after paying my last debts and Funeral charge also my Will and desire is that my son Henry Sparrow is take care of my son Henry Sparrow to take care of my son William as he being a criple and lastly I do nominate and appoint my son Henry Sparrow and Thomas Bartee wholy and jointly executors to this my last will and testament revoking and disunaulling all former wills by me made and ratifying confirming this only in testimony whereof I have hereunto all my hand and fixd my seal this fourteenth day of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety four.

Know all men, by the presents, that Sarah Sparrow, Francis Sparrow, Charly Shanewolf and Solomon Shanewolf all of Craven County are held and firmly bound unto His Excellency Josiah Martin Esquire Governor and Command as in Chief
In the full and just sum of five hundred proclamation money……………
Proclamation Money; to be paid to His lord Excellency……….his successors or assigns: to the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind onesley? Our Heirs, Executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly, by these presents. Sealed with one?? Seals and dated this 14th day of December. Anno Dom. 1774
The condition of this obligation is such, that if the above bounden Sarah and Francis Sparrow Administrators of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Smith sparrow deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the deceased, which have, or shall come to the hands, knowledge, or possession of the said Sarah and Francis or into the hands or possession of any person or persons, for them and the same so made, do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Secretary’s office, and one attested copy thereof to the county Court, where orders for administration passed, within ninety days after the date of these presents; and the same goods, chattels, and credits, and all other the Goods, chattels, and credits, of the deceased, at the time of his death, which at any time hereafter shall come into the hands of possession of the said Sarah and Franis or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons, for them do well and truly administer according to law; and further, do make; or cause to be made, a true and just account of their said administration, within one year after the date of these presents, and all the rest and residue of the said goods, chattels, and credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said administration account, (the fame being first examined and allowed by the governor and council, general court or county court; shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively as the same shall be due, pursuant to the true intent and meaning of the act in that care made and provided: And if it shall appear, that any Will or Testament was made by the said deceased, and the Executor or Executors therein named do exhibit the same into court, said Sarah and Francis above bounden, being thereunto reprobation of such Testament being first had and made in the said court; Then this obligation to be void, and none effect; or lese to remain in full force and virtue.

Fulshire, John Cainey and Thomas Hyman are held and firmly bound unto Joseph Leech esquire, chairman of the court of pleas and quarter-sessions, of the county aforesaid, in the sum of Five hundred pounds current money; to be said chairman, his successors or assigns. To the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 12th day of September A.D. 1798.

Oxley are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina, in the sum of two thousand dollars, current money, to be paid to the State aforesaid: To the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 13th day of December A.D. 1852.
The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the above bounden William H. Buckler administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of Smith Sparrow deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory, and account of sales, of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of him the said William H. Buckler or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons, for him, and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the office of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid, within ninety days after the date of these presents, and the same goods, chattels, and credits, and all other the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased at the time of his death, or which at anytime after shall come to the hands or possession of the said William H.
