Zachariah Collier was found guilty by the jury of stealing 23 s. 6 d on May 14, 1721.  He was a servant of William Bedman.  William sent Zachariah and the maid to church.  William and his wife locked up and left home.  Zachariah went back to William’s house where he took money and his personal belongings.  He spent part of the money and gave the rest to his mother to get his clothes out of pawn.  He confessed when arrested.  He was given a sentence of “transportation”.  He was transported along with 16 other people.

Note:  (1)  The Zachariah and Mary in North Carolina may have already been there.  (2)  There appear to be a couple of Zachariah’s sent over by the King.  (3)  I believe Zachariah may be related and may/may not be the father of Samuel I Colyer.  (4)  Note:  Col. John Collier (Surry VA Collier)  (5) John had two brothers:  Samuel and James. (Information of John Collier of Surry VA can be found at http://curtisamerica.com/getperson.php?personID=10230&tree=colyer)  There is another John Collier who had not been linked to any Collier family.  He was born about 1719 in VA, lived in NC, had 7 sons, had a son born about 1748, owner of a large plantation which he divided among 7 sons (will of).  Col. John Collier moved to Tennessee in 1792 so any records after 1792 for John Collier (with 7 sons) are records of this second John.
